“I joined Litchford & Christopher after clerking for two years
on Florida’s First District Court of Appeal, an intermediate
appellate court. I came to the practice of law with a unique
perspective, having worked in the ‘real world’ for ten years
before returning to school. With a well-founded appreciation of
the kind of challenges the business world presents, I
intentionally sought out a firm where I might personally
encounter those challenges early and often. Having entered the
law later in life and spent two years as a judicial clerk, I was
anxious to hasten my professional development and did not want
to wait patiently for years before acquiring useful practice
skills.
I was not disappointed. Within a week of joining Litchford &
Christopher, I was given the task of drafting an appellate brief
in opposition to a petition for writ of certiorari. The matters
I have handled during subsequent years have not proved to be any
less stimulating than that initial assignment. It is hard to
imagine that I could have received a richer or a more varied
experience since law school if I had been employed by any other
firm.
The cases with which I have become involved include such varied
practice areas as construction, probate, employment
discrimination, insurance, intellectual property, trade secrets,
real estate, and breach of contract. In addition to this broad
mixture of subject matter, there has been real responsibility,
including acting as lead and second chair in several trials. I
have drafted and filed appellate briefs in the United States
Supreme Court, the Eleventh and Federal Circuits, and Florida’s
District Courts of Appeal. In addition, I have served as lead
counsel in an administrative proceeding in Tallahassee.
As my practice continues to mature with Litchford & Christopher,
my responsibilities and experiences expand and deepen. I believe
that choosing to join this firm of moderate size, yet with its
sophisticated focus, has been critical in accelerating my
development as an attorney.”
